I didn't know where okra came from! Michelle's so tiny! I've never enjoyed okra. I'll have to try Michelle's recipe. Post it or email it to me- please!
The only way I know how to cook it is to fry it! I just cut it up into 1/2 inch slices and then I dipped it in egg and then dipped it in a fish/chicken coating that my dad had (Esther actually prepared it!). Then I just fried it in a Fry Daddy for 2-3 min. I made some more this afternoon and did it a little different (since I was out of the mix!). You take 1 egg and beat it. Add 1 Tbsp of milk and 1/4 tsp salt to the egg. You then take the okra slices and dip them in cornmeal mix then dip them in the egg mixture then you dip them in the cornmeal again. You fry for 2-3 minutes until brown. Yummy!

If you don't want to fry it you can bake it in the same coating. Although frying is the truly southern way, don't you think?!
Baking... great idea. I will try that tonight.
